Nordea Bank starts issuing combined bank cards with microprocessors

Effective from 1 July 2011, Nordea Bank launches the issuance of combined bank cards with embedded microprocessors (chip cards) of international payment systems MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International.

Besides a magnetic stripe on the reverse side, a Nordea combined bank card contains a microprocessor (chip) on the front side. It enables to enhance security of using the card by customers.

What makes using the card with an embedded chip special is that transactions related to paying for goods and services require the cardholder’s confirmation by way of entering the pin code.

Effective from 1 July 2011, such chip-embedded cards will be issued both for new and old customers. The replacement of magnetic-striped cards will be effected upon their expiration or at the cardholder’s request.

You can receive a chip-embedded card at any office of Nordea Bank. The issuance and maintenance of chip-embedded cards shall be effected according to the applicable tariffs.
